How to write well . Here are three tips. . 1. To write well, you need to read. If you are not an avid reader, you will never be a good writer. Reading allows you to learn from other writers and expand your vocabulary. You need to read from a variety of sources and on a variety of subjects. Your vocabulary and style will not improve very much if you only read the same subject day in and day out. Reading crap on Facebook and gossip magazines won’t help you very much either. Read, read and read. And then read some more. . . 2. When you write, you must always think about your reader. Who is going to be reading your writing? Your writing must be tailored for your reader(s). If you are writing for children, you style should obviously be different compared to when you are writing for a bunch of scientists. Always put yourself in your readers’ shoes when you write. Be reader-centric. If the reader does not understand what you are trying to say, you fail. . . 3. Writing requires practice. The more you write, the better you become, especially if you have a coach to guide you. You must also make an effort to learn about good writing skills. There are many books and on-line sources on this subject. If you only write once in a year, your writing is likely to be crappy. . For more tips, take a number and wait. .
