Below is Mondays current FORECAST throughout our regions. *********************************************** This is the Official Forecast for Monday 12th of May 2014 for Gladstone to Cooktown and west to Mt Isa. *********************************************** Queensland Warning Summary at issue time - - Marine Wind Warning Summary for Queensland. >>Please check the Bureaus web site for details of the above and all latest Qld warnings information - bom.gov.au/qld/warnings Weather Situation - A high over southeastern Australia is expected to strengthen as it shifts east into the Tasman Sea on Monday, reinforcing the ridge along the east Queensland coast. The high is expected to move slowly across the Tasman Sea through next week and will maintain a moist onshore flow along the east coast through much of next week. An upper trough will enter western Queensland on Monday and is expected to intensify while moving east across the state during Tuesday and Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of Sunday - Scattered showers about the east tropical coast, with isolated activity extending inland into the eastern tropical interior. Very isolated showers elsewhere about the east coast and adjacent inland. Isolated showers over southern districts, mostly about the far southern Maranoa and Darling Downs. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Moderate southeasterly winds along the east coast, fresh and gusty north of about St. Lawrence. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds elsewhere. Monday 12 May - Scattered showers about the east tropical coast. Showers will increase about the central and southern coasts and adjacent inland during the day with possible isolated storms developing. Isolated showers over the southern and southeastern interior and central west, particularly over the far southern Darling Downs and Maranoa where some isolated thunderstorms are possible. Fine and mostly sunny in the west of the state. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds along the east coast. Moderate southeast to northeasterly winds elsewhere. Fire Danger - High in the Central Highlands and Coalfields district. Low to moderate elsewhere. Tuesday 13 May - The new upper trough is expected to intensify as it shifts eastwards over the Queensland interior, increasing instability over eastern and northern districts and combining with an onshore wind flow to generate showers and possible storms, more frequent near the east coast. Isolated showers may possibly develop through the central and southeastern interior. Fine and mostly sunny conditions should occur through western Queensland. Wednesday 14 May - The upper trough should move slowly eastwards maintaining instability over eastern districts. The high in the Tasman Sea will remain slow-moving with a moist onshore flow continuing along the east coast. Scattered showers and possible storms are expected along much of the east coast with some of the activity extending into the northern and eastern interior during the afternoon. A dry airmass will lead to fine and mostly sunny conditions in the west, central west and the southern interior.
