How will Abbott undermine all our wage and environment protections? By signing the Death Star Treaty! This frightening binding treaty is also known as the TPPA; the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement. Abbott has already promised to fast track it in its entirety, even though Rudd and Howard balked at its vicious reach. The TPPA effectively demands that Constraints on CSG, the Fair Work Act, Sport and Arts subsidies, the ABC and Australia Post must be scrapped. Pharmaceutical benefits are threatened. Food labelling, alcopops taxes, environmental protections and preferential tendering for local suppliers, will all go. A chill will settle on all activism, unions and public services. How? Any "barrier to free trade" can be overturned by corporations in foreign courts called ISDS (Investor-State Dispute Settlements. Peru is to pay 4.2 billion because it tried to ban products that poisoned 95% of one cities children. Canada is being sued because it delayed CSG mining pending a environmental study. Already, Phillip Morris is sueing us for plain cigarette packaging, using a Hong Kong court. Why would any state sign away their sovereignty to a bunch of US corporations? Corporations pushing this treaty include Citibank, Monsanto, Exxon, Chevron, Dow, Walmart and Bank of America. But corporate led so-called democratic States believe that if they sign, they will have more access to US markets. New Zealand, Vietnam, Brunei have signed. Abbott promises a "Commission of Audit:" to look at our finances. This will state we need drastic measures to bail Australia out. We "must" sign the TPPA, and implement the IPA- Murdoch- Reinhardt wishlist of no Climate Change Dept, no Clean Energy bill, shrunken media and internet, a special economic zone for North Australia with imported workers and lower taxes for, well, Gina and friends. So tell your friends..TPPA, a secret Treaty is bearing down on our rights and our beautiful country, and it should be signed by October!
