Howard was right when he said, you appeal to what is right for people and the nation. Today some 30% of the electorate are not loyal to any party nor their parents viewpoint. Their vote is up for grabs at each and every election. The Abbott government is not popular yet at the same time Shorten is not a trusted leader. The Greens will always attract the progressives and university graduates, whilst the majors rely on the families and older voters. The vote is often determined by employment stability and mortgage, as we age and become more responsible for ourselves and family. This makes for an interesting couple of years as Abbott finds his feet and the opposition determine policy responses.
