Howdy, Hillbillies! Heres a Throwback Thursday photo from the late 1980s when we debuted a new club outfit. I can name all but one couple--the one holding hands near the left-hand side. Otherwise those shown are Mary Schwartz, Ed & Helen Blanchard, Ivan & Monica Rae Stein, Odette & Bob Hurlbert, and yes, the Shinns Dean & Karen. This outfit caused a lot of controversy, but it was in my opinion one of the very best dance costumes ever for the simple fact that since it was so colorful it only took about six of our club members to make a real presence on the dance floor! It was also the first time the club opted for allowing personal choice in putting the two fabrics together to suit individual preferences--another instance when the Sierra Hillbillies have been on the leading edge of trends.
