Howdy everyone! I know its been awhile since my last post but things have been crazy round here! And not in a crazy chicken lady kind of crazy, just plain old fashioned too much to do and not enough time to do it kind of crazy! I promise Ill do better at posting the happenings round here... Today has been especially busy. After the morning feeding and the regular chores. I spent a couple of hours scrubbing and disinfecting every feeder and waterer we have in the pens and coops. Then I cleaned and disinfected all of the incubators and put all but 1 up for the season. Yes, that means that one is being put to use... I set Cream Legbar and Lavender Orpington eggs today. Five eggs of each breed... These are 2 of my 4 favorite breeds! I hope to have eggs from the other 2 favorites(Tolbunts from our own flock and more Salmon Faverolles) very soon!... Three weeks and we should have some tiny fluffy butts around here again. So cross your fingers and pray for a successful hatch! I also checked on my four hog legs that Ive got brining and turned them over to be sure to get all sides soaked really well. They sure are looking good and I can hardly wait to get them babies in the smoker and do em up right! Tomorrow, Ill get started on my Buckboard Bacon and make another batch of sausage. Im thinking 20lbs each of snack sticks and smoked sausage links. Maybe some Summer Sausage too if I have time and energy left! Im gonna scoot for now and get my Apples cored and quartered for my Crockpot Apple Butter. We completely sold out again this past week at the Farmers Market so time to make some more! Might make a few jars of Apple Pie filling while Im at it! Thank you for sticking with me and patiently waiting for posts and updates. I do appreciate each and every one of you and want you all to know that I couldnt do this blog without you!
