Howdy to all my TasteBuddies! It’s Monday y’all, time to get back into it again. I am so happy I don’t have to fret about Monday’s being difficult, or boring, or stressful. A friend of mine posted this on Facebook this morning: I cant wait to get back to work after this long weekend! Ive missed my boss and co-workers so much! said no one ever. But Alex, I’m going to respectfully disagree with you on this one, for me anyway. I am SO fortunate to be able to work with people I love, respect and have a LOT of fun with. I am pretty sure they feel the same way about me, even if I am the boss! Almost my whole staff, plus the wonderful Dave Wendland, helped with a big catering this past Saturday night. Everyone pulled together, worked hard and got ‘er done. It feels so good to be a part of a team that shares the same goals, has clear communication and big fun to boot! I believe we should aim for this way of being because it is our natural state, to live as the plants and animals do in nature... working together for survival yes, but to experience the bliss of healthy community. Well all I’ve heard from various peeps is how wonderful their Thanksgiving was, so I truly hope that is the case with each of you. It absolutely was for me. The drive to and from Houston to spend time with the Langston arm of my clan was fun and so worth it. I got to spend good quality time with my two favorite peeps! And THEN we got to see the new baby Samantha, pet Melody’s tummy which will birth baby Rebecca in a few months and of course, love on the rest of that delightful family. And the food you ask? OH WOW. Melody isn’t my blood niece, but she certainly is my culinary one. Turns out both nieces are good cooks and yes, that thrills me to no end! Time for a walk down memory lane for your girl here. This day, 25 years ago, I was getting my nails done in preparation for my rehearsal dinner at Capital City Country Club. The next day I would marry my best friend! The weather that week was just like it is now, clear and only slightly chilly, perfect weather for those poor guys in suits! I had SO MUCH FUN at my wedding! When it was time for Don and I to head to the now Double Tree, where our buddies had fixed up our room with satin sheets and other delights Smile, I didn’t want to go! I was having such a blast being queen for the day. I tell all my brides, only when you have a baby will you be treated like this, so please enjoy it! And boy did I enjoy it, let me tell you. My brother helped with all the food and arranging, things I had NO idea about then, so thank goodness for him! All of my besties were my bridesmaids and gosh were they beautiful. Many parts of both families were there which just made it so awesome for me and just the love, the love, the love. Which, I’m happy to report, is still there. Our relationship has changed for sure, but the solidness of that love is deeper than it was 25 years ago. So, Happy Anniversary Don! I promise to keep loving you, all the way, all the time, into eternity. Alrighty, it’s now December, which means there is NO rest for the weary. Last weeks Thanksgiving meals were quite the hit and I’ll be doing a similar menu for Christmas. But, if you want something outside the norm, please get with me as soon as you’re able OK? I am making lots of entrees, appetizers and desserts, so if you want to add a little something different to what you’re already making or want us to cater a whole party for you, please let me know. I’ve got a crew of ready and willing workers who need to work, so call us! However, that being said, I am also committed to remembering the reason for the season and will be taking time for cooking for my own family and spending time in prayer and thought for our hurting world. All this love flowing in and out of me is like a big ole river, it needs to go somewhere! So thank you for the love you all give back to me when you respond to my letters, or pass on a kindness, pray for me or support me in my efforts with the kids and other endeavors. It feeds me and keeps me going. It is working, so please keep doing it! much love to you all, and big gratitude too! Judy
