Howdy to my 1285ish-and-counting Facebook associates (plus my 160ish Google+ followers) from around Utah, across America, and beyond! Im so glad that, since 2011 began, so many of you have enjoyed (or at least tolerated) my daily mixture of educational and/or informational social-media posts about my three passions of religion and family and politics, plus other topics like culture and leadership and economics and science and technology and humor and such, along with special content for various holidays that interest me, all to the extent that Ive remained well enough to share such posts. I had intended to share a few posts for Hanukkah again this year, which began earlier this week, but I didnt. Sadly, unlike all last year, Im still struggling to stay well enough to post very much very regularly, but Ill keep striving to do what good I can as best as I can for as long as I can. Along with remaining spiritually/mentally ill, Ive spent this last week feeling rather preoccupied with both moving into my newest residence (which is very near both Deseret Industries and Sweets Hawaiian Grill) and then getting settled into it, for which Im grateful that Ive enjoyed others help. I still need to gather a few large items from some of my former residences, assemble some new furniture to improve my newest residence, sell some old electronics that I no longer use, replace some aging devices like both my mini-refrigerator and my HEPA air filter, and restock myself with toiletries and groceries and such, but Im slowly getting these things done. Im still deferring some tasks until I get either a borrowed truck or a Phillips screwdriver or more cash. Ive noticed that getting settled is generally harder (and less pleasant) for me than moving itself; I believe that theres truth in the organizational principle of a place for everything and everything in its place, and it normally takes me a while both to figure out how best to configure my stuff, and to get accustomed to its new configuration. But its always nice to get that task behind me each time. I like to find a suitable place to live and then to stay there indefinitely, rather than to keep moving occasionally, and I hope that this newest residence will prove to be such a place. Although I hate to move, I do love to travel, though, although I havent been able to engage in it very much since 2001. I once returned to northern Virginia every mid-December to spend Christmas Day with my parents and others there, for which Im very grateful, although I havent visited Virginia since I returned to Utah in early 2007. But Im grateful that Ive made so many good friends here in Utah who help render Christmastime as good as its been. Like the amazing Jordan Gunderson, who spent his Wednesday evening sharing his enjoyable company, treating me to a tasty dinner at Mooyahs, helping me to move a few items into my new apartment, and buying me a wonderful useful electronic gift. Im grateful for so many things this Christmastime, including for the gift of the Holy Spirit, for the Savior and His Atonement and His gospel and His Church, for having been born at this exciting time in this amazing place to parents who were as good as they were, for good friends and kind associates, for these great United States of America and their wonderful political heritage of rightful liberty under Constitutional law, for basic necessities like food and clothing and shelter, for opportunities to worship God and date women and serve others and work and learn and enjoy life, for knowledge and skills and experiences, for this beautiful Earth and repeated opportunities to explore some of it, for technological wonders, and so forth. And to God in general for being the source of everything thats good in my life, whether directly or indirectly. Im grateful that this Christmas season helps us to focus especially on the Savior, and I always enjoy the various activities that accompany it, such as devotionals and dinners and parties and sing-ins and caroling. Im feeling eager to go caroling to some struggling people this weekend. If you live in Provo, then please consider joining me for that event! Next week, both Maglebys and Sweets Hawaiian Grill will be serving free Christmas dinners to people like me who cant afford to eat very easily, for which Im very grateful. So far, I dont have any other activities planned for this next week, so I might spend both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day chatting on Facebook, as Ive sometimes done in past years.
