How’s Your Diet and Exercise? The angel of the Lord came again - TopicsExpress

How’s Your Diet and Exercise? The angel of the Lord came again a second time and touched him and said, “Arise, eat, because the journey is too great for you.” So he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God. 1 Kings 19:7-8 In today’s world everyone wants to lose weight, get in shape and look great; the world is constantly coming out with new diets, fat-loss pills and programs, and all other miracle solutions to losing weight and getting in shape. However, the only way to really be physically fit is to have proper diet and exercise. The statement that “you are what you eat” is really true. It is important to have a good diet, get proper exercise and get enough rest so that you can achieve the results you desire. While it is great to be physically fit, the even more important diet is our spiritual diet. We must be spiritually fit so that we can overcome the trials of life in victory and overcome the darts that Satan throws at us. It doesn’t matter how physically fit you are when depression comes, you lose a friend, lose your job, or a stricken with an illness. How is your spiritual diet? Friend, for every precious child of God that has placed all their trust in Jesus Christ, there is a “filet mignon” spiritual diet and exercise plan by spending time in the word of God and meditating on it throughout the day that will grow your faith and keep you from temptation all throughout every day. I have studied and been involved in the fitness industry for a long time. One of my favorite things I used to do was to write out diets for clients and watch the weight fall off when they follow the diet. Just recently, a young man from California had called me because my Personal Training Certification had expired; he was wondering if I had any questions about renewing my fitness certification. This young man was interested in helping people to be physically fit and there’s nothing wrong with that at all; however, God’s desire is for people to spiritually fit. I asked this young man if anyone had ever explained to him how he would know that when he dies he will go to heaven; he wasn’t really sure. Only by the grace of God, I was able to explain what Jesus Christ had done for him and he prayed over the phone to trust Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. This young man may be physically fit, but know he just started his Everlasting spiritual fitness journey. Action Point The best way to diet is to eat your largest meal in the morning and eat smaller, more frequent portions throughout the day so that your body stays energized and you boost your metabolism. This is also true spiritually; the best way to start your day is to spend a set time with God in His word and in prayer expecting Him to speak to you. We need guidance and faith for every day and every challenge that we face; faith comes by hearing the word of God. But we must not stop there. We must continue to meditate and think about words and thoughts from God throughout the day to keep our minds sharp and discerning. Therefore, my challenge for me and for you is to set a time out in the morning to read God’s word and pray; and throughout the day to take a verse or two of Scripture and think about it when we have free time. We will be amazed how God keeps us in victory as we keep up our spiritual diet in the power of the Holy Spirit! God Bless You as you live Spiritually Fit!!!
