Huang Di Nei Jing: Chapter 44: Wei Conditions Huang Di asked, - TopicsExpress

Huang Di Nei Jing: Chapter 44: Wei Conditions Huang Di asked, “How is it that disorder of any of the five zang organs can cause a wei or flaccidity condition?” Qi Bo answered, “The lungs govern the skin and body hair. When the lungs are attacked by a heat pathogen, exhausting body fluids, the loves of the lungs become atrophied – a dry wei condition. The skin and body hair become cracked and brittle. When the heat lingers chronically, paralysis of the extremities results. The heart is responsible for blood flow. When the heart is attacked by heat, the blood flows upward. This creates a condition of excess in the upper and deficiency in the lower. The deficiency below produces hollow vessels and a lack of circulation in the joints. The joints then become stiff. The tendons of the feet become loose and flaccid and the patient is unable to walk.” (Many thanks to Maoshing Ni for his translation, elucidation, explanation!)
