Hubby and I went to the local soup kitchen and helped out for lunch. Ive never seen it so busy as it was today. As always had a great time just laughing with the staff and volunteers as we worked. Hubby helped with the stacking of the plates, cups and silverware, I helped serve coffee and picked up trays and cups when we were cleaning up. I enjoy helping on the weekends and now that summer is over and we dont have as much to do, I hope to be there more often to help. It really is a blessing to volunteer some time to help those who need support, rather it be physical or emotional support. Volunteering is a great way to help someone in need and I think everyone should find something they like and do well and take the time to offer what you have to someone who wants or needs it. Volunteering can mean serving food, teaching someone to read or how to make bread or sew. It can be teaching a young mother how to care for a baby or a young man how to work on a lawnmower. You dont have to go to a building or place to volunteer, you can do it in your own backyard or kitchen. Yes, volunteering is very fulfilling and it allows us to give a little of ourselves to help make someones life a little better.
