Huge congratulations to our PE teacher Mr Djordje, who was part of the Montenegrin rugby 7s team as they made their first ever appearance in the European 7s Championship, held in Thessaloniki over the weekend. Rugby 7s is, hence the name, a seven-a-side version of the usual 15-player game. Its popularity has grown significantly in recent years with more and more nations taking up the sport at a serious level. After months of preparation, the Montenegrin side traveled to the northern Greek city late last week. They were narrowly beaten by experienced Switzerland and Turkey teams in their early fixtures but they battled back to comfortably defeat San Marino and Liechtenstein in their later games, to secure ninth place in the group. It really is a marvelous achievement for the country, who are still novices compared to many of their European rivals. Djordje, who has been a popular and inspirational presence at Arcadia, scored two tries during the competition and with any luck hell be able to share his experiences with us this week.
