Hughes & Sons, Boxlock non ejector. This is an older gun with the earlier style proof stamps showing 2 1/2in chamber for Nitro use up to 1 1/8oz (32g) load, thus putting it in the 1920s. Hughes & Sons typically make fine hammer and sidelock guns, I am presuming this is their farmers edition, possibly made by someone else and stamped with their name. It is a good gun with good woodwork and a plain, non engraved action It has some minor pitting in the barrels but nothing too bad. It has age related Patina as expected for a classic English gun. It is overall a very nice gun and built in the days when shooters built guns - and it shows. It has an ease of use and a pointability that would lend itself to pigeon hide work or walk up days on pheasants where a snap-shot is required. £150 Hartlepool can post to RFD for a tenner
