Human Brain Project Platforms Understanding the human brain is one of the greatest challenges facing 21st century science. If we can rise to it, we can gain profound insights into what makes us human, build revolutionary computing technologies and develop new treatments for brain disorders .. Today, for the first time, modern ICT has brought these goals within reach. The HBP will develop six ICT platforms, dedicated respectively to .. Neuroinformatics, Brain Simulation, High Performance Computing, Medical Informatics, Neuromorphic Computing and Neurorobotics. In all cases, the platforms will build on existing capabilities, some but not all developed by the HBP partners .. The HBP platforms will be designed for use by scientists from outside the HBP Consortium who may have limited technological expertise. Software and related documentation will be developed and maintained to professional standards. The Consortium will develop technical support and training programmes for users of the platforms. The goal of the Human Brain Project is catalysing a global collaborative effort to integrate neuroscience data from around the world, to understand the human brain and its diseases, and ultimately to emulate its computational capabilities ..
