Human Resources Plant Trainer Specialist Human Resources | Lawrenceville, IL, United States I. General Summary: Support the plant in the development and deployment of technical training and development programs. Provide education, training, and development programs and activities that will enhance team member growth as well as encourage the pursuit of productivity and quality. Understands training needs of plant team members and works with TBA HR to deploy training programs which will fit and support the unique team member plant environment. II. Essential Job Functions: Supports the design, development, implementation and completion of programs, projects, and activities to ensure shop floor team members are educated, trained, and developed to their fullest potential. Coordinates or assists with the development and delivery of technical, shop floor team member training and development curriculum, including soft skill development in plant settings. Delivers training material and conducts technical training for shop floor team members based on subject matter expertise. Researches outside consultants/service for specialized training needs, where appropriate. Provides support assistance to the concepts and programs for team member development and overall training based on needs analysis in close cooperation with corporate and plant management. Compiles data and analyzes past and current training requirements to prepare budgets and justify funds as requested. Formulates training programs and schedule programs based upon management-identified needs. Selects appropriate resources, expertise, methods, etc. to deliver requested/approved training. Conducts training audits in plant departments to assess training effectiveness. Ensures that pilot training sessions are conducted and measured to determine effectiveness and revisions needed. Schedules and tracks technical training program requirements and effectiveness, ensuring close communication with corporate training staff. Monitors overall technical training program effectiveness and suggests countermeasures for gaps. Coordinates and assists with the administration and delivery of training processes for new hires (Orientation and Onboarding). Supports the organization and development of training room(s), multimedia visual aids, testing and evaluating procedures, and other educational materials. Coordinates and monitor training room(s) and area(s). Maintains training records and documents. Coordinates training with outside sources, such as corporate trainers and technical and professional schools. III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Human Resources or Organizational Development, Training, or Learning related degrees preferred. Experience: Greater than two (2) years of progressive HR work in a training and development capacity and academic preparation or (4) years of relevant experience in a multi-faceted production environment. Multi-site manufacturing setting experience preferred. Experience in facilitating technical skill training in manufacturing settings preferred. Experience at an Automotive OEM and/or Tier 1 supplier to Japanese automaker helpful. Personal/Technical Skills: Ability to deliver and proof training materials. Ability to develop and deliver training proposals to all levels of plant management. Ability to perform basic data analysis, financial calculations, and reasoning analysis. Ability to effectively present training information to production team members. Ability to read and interpret training related documents for production environments such as technical data, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Basic knowledge of Toyota Production System methodologies is a plus. Basic math skills. Strong customer service orientation. Excellent project and analytical skills. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs. Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills. Develops team member relations centered on trust and teamwork. Ability to work with multiple departments and prioritize activities. Ability to create reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports in charts, graphs, and table format. Must be able to multi-task, handle diversity, and provide guidance through problem resolution. Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of the organization in a multicultural environment. Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and team members in a team oriented environment. As unique situations present themselves, the incumbent must be sensitive to Toyota Boshoku America’s (TBA) needs, team member goodwill, and the public image. Thorough understanding and working knowledge of TBA’s organization, automotive plants and processes/principles, company products, trade terminology, and manufacturing processes is a plus. Language Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Japanese, Spanish, and/or Portuguese would be helpful. Computer/Software: Solid working knowledge of, and experience with, word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, database, desktop publishing, and presentation applications and/or software, preferably Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes. Experience working with HRIS and other business enterprise systems including talent management system is preferred. IV. Work Environment/Conditions: Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level. Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply. Travel: Must be willing to travel 0-10% of the time. V. Physical Demands: Ability to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time is required. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time and is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds. The ability to travel by automobile and airplane are both required.
