Human rationality is really very limited, fickle, and has a habit - TopicsExpress

Human rationality is really very limited, fickle, and has a habit of vanishing most when its most needed (from an outsiders point of view of whats needed). I dont believe rationality on its own or as a primary basis is a reliable guide to a good life or a good society. Perhaps it could be if we were all ideally rational, but all of us, more or less, become as blatantly irrational as we like whenever we, usually unconsciously, feel that it suits our, often short-term, self-interest or social identification purposes. Morality, particularly formulated codes, is just as unreliable, in similarly and predictably socially biased ways. All the vaunting and idolizing of human rationality and morality is vanity, or naive and useless idealism.
