Human rights are a major priority for the Netherlands and the EU. They are the cornerstone of human dignity, freedom and development, and form the basis for open and free societies all over the world. The Netherlands Embassy acknowledges and appreciates all the organisations in Pakistan who do a tremendous job already. We support the continued efforts of NGOs, human rights defenders and other individuals in actively promoting respect for human rights very often at great peril. These people are true and often unseen heroes. Today, it’s important to honor them. Today at an event hosted by our partner The Asia Foundation and the Ministry of law, justice and human rights we honored 15 human rights defenders who speak out for human rights in Pakistan.
