Humble Underachievers: I make private charitable contributions, I dont need to announce it. People often pride themselves on giving to charity, quietly and secretly. They assume that by giving anonymously without announcement, it speaks to their humility and possibly reinforces the notion that they care more and care honestly, about the cause theyre supporting. What seems like a noble contribution in my opinion, is actually quite lazy and not as entirely selfless as youd think. What people dont realize is, by doing this, youre actually underachieving in your efforts. Youre not maximizing your contribution; youre not giving enough. Two of the most vital contributions to any organization is money and increased awareness. Typically, awareness translates into additional contributions by people, enhancing the efforts of said organization. Hence, the question, how does one achieve the latter if their contributions are made privately? So next time you give, give loudly, give passionately and announce it to the world, because you just might be drawing attention to a cause that desperately needs increased awareness. This month is Sickle Cell Anemia Awareness month. I will be donating to a few organizations and I think you should too. Thanks for reading.
