Humbled and overwhelmed by hearing from so many wonderful folks. It was a wonderful and amazing day full of much needed fun and laughter. It has been an incredibly difficult few months in learning and accepting Papa Patels Stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme (GMB) diagnosis. In an instant things that seemed so important meant nothing anymore and all the small moments of gesture would leave the hugest impact. This year has been full of growth and many lessons. On my birthday many of you reminded me of how much each of you have taught me, reminded me I was cared about, and helped me to realize how much I have to be incredibly grateful for in spite of tough circumstances. For years I have spent so long being petrified of Falling on My Butt that I wasnt aware that I was pretty close to Falling on My Face from all the LEAN IN I had been doing. I now get that I have to LEAN BACK and allow others to HELP. May all of you learn/have the Epiphany I did this Year: Life is a mixture of Joy/Grief/Heartache/Loss --We are thrown challenges not because we need to LEAN IN but to allow ourselves to LEAN BACK. Everything & Everyone Changes--ENJOY THE MOMENTS and use it to sustain through GRIEF. On that note Im going to recite my blessings and teachers this list is in no way all encompassing or meant to to be in any particular order.
