Humbling Experience: I bought a new car after my faithful 14-year-old VW Beetle was struck from behind at a stop sign. My insurance company totaled out the car, because the resultant damage caused by the oversized truck, combined with the proposed labor costs, proved to be too much. As a replacement, I bought a brand new very dark purple and rather small sized 2014 Honda CRZ two-seater hatchback hybrid, as my days of driving around with a crowd of people are pretty much behind me. About four days after getting the new car, I stopped at the commissary for food items. One of the ladies that bagged up my groceries, accompanied me to the parking lot to load up my car. Since the dealer plates were in plain sight, I didnt think it was a big deduction when I heard the ladys exclamation, Oh, you got a new car! But, then she followed up with asking what happened to my blue Bug, and I had to explain about the accident. Sometimes, it feels rather strange to have people that I do not recall meeting - remember me or things that Ive owned. Ive always had trouble remembering peoples faces, and used to joke that my Mom had to wear a name badge just so Id know who she was...and that it simply said Mom on it.
