Humiliated pastor Sithembiso Zondo, who preaches at the Zero to Hero Church at the Moses Mabhida Stadium’s hall and who was filmed walking naked and talking on his cellphone by a woman who then posted it on YouTube last week, told his congregation on Sunday to keep the video clip on their phones and tablets. When people were in a difficult situation, they should remember the clip and compare their situation with his – and know that what happened to them was not as humiliating as that of the pastor whose nakedness was displayed for the world to see. The charismatic pastor also has a slot on the breakfast show of SABC’s largest radio station, Ukhozi FM. The hall and the parking lot for on Sunday’s service were packed to capacity, with many in the crowd walk-ins who had come to the church for the first time to see the pastor who had made headlines when the clip had gone viral. Zondo, energetic as always, stepped on to the pulpit two hours after his scheduled time, apologising for the naked film clip. before giving his address. “I sincerely apologise to Ukhozi FM management and all my listeners for causing them pain and embarrassing them. I have felt the pain, but God pressured me to forgive this video woman so I can continue healing people. I also forgive all those who conspired (with her) because I have been told about what happened,” he said. Zondo, who was fasting when the video went viral, said he had prayed all week about what had happened. “God said I must not pray for myself but for the woman who took this video. Please do not delete it, even you who might have removed it, let it not fade from your mind. I want that when people embarrass you, for you to remember it and compare it to your problem. “Ask yourself how big is your problem with what has happened to me,” he said. Zondo did not go into details about how and what was happening when the video was taken. He said he would not take the law into his own hands but that “the law would take its course”. He thanked everyone who supported him. Some Christians and pastors have defended Zondo, saying no one is perfect.
