Hun bore thau chhu, kai karye ne? Is a difficult question to answer on a scorching sunday afternoon. Hence, On a long overdue and bored sunday plan we went to #VARIETEA, literally to beat the heat! Its a tea lounge with varied flavors of tea, both hot and cold. A friendly and beautiful ambiance , some nice board games, a projector screening IPL and lots of people from all age groups having a great time. A group that gets hungry after lunch/dinner as soon as they set foot in a cafe/restaurant, is exactly what happened even then. So hunger stricken we ordered a gree tea mojito, orange green tea, mocha-tealo and irani chai (on a groupon coupon) we got a tiny sized chocolate muffin served with chocolate sauce. For accompaninents we ordered butter garlic fries (must try if u love ur garlic and ofcourse butter) cottage cheese wrap, garluc and mushroom pasta and maskabun. The mocha tealo has to be avoided at any cost, even with the chocolate it was horrid, thats the first time, there was smthng chocolate could not blend with. The tea mojito, is a refreshing drink, similar to a mojito but this one is with tea flavor, mint leaves and lemon wedges. The orange tea had only very little orange flavor. The irani chai isnt something i like but for those who do I was told it was wonderful. Their tea mocktails are big glasses and regular teas are a kettle which easily can serve 2 people unless u r only on a tea spree and want a lot more. The black teas/green teas are the same portion. So good portion sizes and very filling. The butter garlic fries are exceptional and they have to be eaten unless u dont eat garlic or dont like it, in which case in my opinion u are missing a very exotic food flavor. The other king here is the mushroom garlic pasta, liberal chunks of nushrooms and garlic with just a little cheese on the top, awesome. The wrap was nice, but the salsa with it was super. The muffin that came with the irani chai was mini-muffin with chocolate sauce, with the sauce it tasted well, without it dry. The tea and snacks are nice, and I like the feel of the place. A sunday afternoon is an ideal time to visit. Their service is a tad slow and they forget things but overall helpful and polite. For amdavadis tea is precious although we are ready to experiment, varietea tingles our tastebuds and touches the correct notes.
