Hundreds of people flooded the memorial today. (For my grandfather) the current Chief Justice and one his youngest childhood friends spoke- the prior reminiscing his great work in the legal field, the latter speaking of their journey together as friends and dads and one more note on his role in 1952 the international language movement. (To the knowledge of very few ,My Nana was one of those people who marched for the freedom of having Bangla language in then Pakistan, he never claimed his role in the multiple awards and padaks) But it was the Imaam of the mosque my Nana frequented who spoke of the words I was yearning to hear, my heart needing some final confirmation. He was A man of deep faith- so dedicated to his mosque and his prayer, but he was moderate in his Views, he remained open to coexist with people Of other faiths and religions and political alliances, he loved his country and his language and his people and had no bias towards anyone. Apparently people have whispered about his allegiance to Islamic or Pakistani or whatever leans (probably because of his beard) but as someone who grew from his seed, I can proudly say- he was a judge but has judged the human less than myself and most of us. We have lost a treasure of the nation, one of those who silently gave and left. But a few of us shall know and cherish your worth. Rest in peace my dearest Nanabhai.
