Hunting and fishing enthusiasts, here is your chance to be heard, the establishment of an Advisory Council for the USAG Grafenwoehr Hunting, Fishing and Shooting (HFS) program. Last week Hans Hathaway (Program Manager of the HFS), Uli Sibbers (USAREUR POC HFS) and Audre Binder (Director of Family Morale, Wealth and Recreation) held a meeting to discuss matters of the program. An email was sent out to all on the email contact list at the MWR. Sadly only 16 people attended, only two of the 16 were fishing enthusiasts. Mrs. Binder shared information about how the program is funded, how the ongoing budget constraints may put our program in jeopardy and how we can possibly impact the future of our program. Let’s face it, it is our program and not that of just one or two assigned personnel. Bottom line, our program will only survive with people who share the interest are actively involved. In this day of budget cuts, if there is no or little interest and participation in a program the program will be cut. We have seen this in the past. While time is short and valuable to all of us, if we don’t all do our part then we may have more time on our hands as there will not be a program to go out and enjoy our great past time. About the Advisory Council, the council will be a non-governing body of individuals like you and I who want to see our program maintained and provide the best to our community. Besides the normal positions a council is made up of (I.E Pres, Vise Pres, Sec, etc), the council will have members at large who will be on hand to provide suggestions, ideas and voice concerns. Ladies and gentlemen all too often I listen to people make comments, complaints and bring up ideas that may help the program. This is your chance to be a part of the solution and make things happen. The next council meeting is tentatively being planned for the 1st two weeks in August. I am sure another email will be sent out once the exact date and time is figured out. I will also post it on here to ensure those of you not on the email list get the information and have a chance to participate.
