Hurricane Gonzalo centered about 665 miles SSW of Bermuda - TopicsExpress

Hurricane Gonzalo centered about 665 miles SSW of Bermuda continues on a course to the northwest as a Cat 3 storm with maximum sustained winds estimated at 125 mph. The last AF reconnaissance flight into Gonzalo noted a concentric 8 nm wide eye, consistent with a well organized, intense tropical cyclone. Further strengthening is possible given the favorable environment modulated by any eyewall replacement cycles that occur. The deep trof over the eastern third of the U.S. will prevent Gonzalo from striking the east coast. However, the consensus forecast from the suite of dynamical models takes the center very close to Bermuda by Saturday.
