Hurricane Iselle is aiming at the Hawaiian Islands - new warnings have been issued. A Hurricane Warning has been issued for Hawaii County and a Tropical Storm Warning for Maui County. A Tropical Storm Watch continues for Oahu County. Interests in Kauai County and the northwestern Hawaiian Islands should monitor the progress of Iselle as additional watches may be required later today or Thursday. Iselle is centered at 11 a.m. HST (5 p.m. EDT) about 625 miles east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii, moving toward the west-northwest. A USAF Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft found maximum sustained winds of 90 mph - a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some weakening during the next 48 hours is forecast, but Iselle may still be a hurricane as it passes near the Big Island of Hawaii. Preparations to protect life and property in the warning area should be rushed to completion.
