Hurricane season began June 1, and base officials are encouraging the public to be prepared. MCIEAST-MCB Camp Lejeune will host a Destructive Weather & Emergency Preparedness Expo Thursday, June 19 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Main Exchange Parking Lot aboard base, and all active duty service members, civilian employees and family members are encouraged to attend. Important information about hurricanes, preparedness, evacuation procedures and assistance, family, home and pet preparation will be presented. Some of the scheduled presenters include John Cole with the National Weather Service, Doug Haas with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Tim Harvey with the MCIEAST Regional Emergency Management Program, Michael Patton with the American Red Cross, and Christina Bauman with the North Carolina Division of Services for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing.
