Hurriyat (G) rejects Mirwaiz’s Indo-Pak summit proposal ‘It’s New Delhi’s game-plan to make global voice irrelevant Shabeer Ahmad Srinagar, June 21: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Friday rejected the proposal of Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq that Indo-Pak leaders should either meet in Srinagar or Muzaffarabad to hold talks on Kashmir issue. “Hurriyat (G) in principle opposes and disagrees with any such proposal. For New Delhi has forcibly taken the control of state through its military power,” the Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said in a statement. “Invitation extended by subjugated people would definitely have an impact on the disputed nature and status of Kashmir issue and India in order to justify its control would exploit it (invitation) and the negotiations,” he said. Justifying the resolution of the Kashmir issue through international intervention the spokesman said: “The issue is a sensitive, pending and recognized at international level. However, the dialogue held in a third country would be much more appropriate and more beneficial.” “It is an established policy of Hurriyat (G) that it would in all circumstances avoid confrontation with individuals and resistant groups,” said the spokesman adding that “We do not mean to hurt anyone’s self esteem or sentiments but since the Kashmir movement has priority over all interests, we have decided to put forth our stand in a dignified and courteous manner. All the sincere and honest opinions on issues related to the struggle of the nation would be placed before the people.” The spokesman alleged it is the game-plan of New Delhi to make the global voices irrelevant.
