Hurriyet leaders call for shutdown tomorrow Srinagar, July 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops martyred eight people and injured dozens during a protest demonstration at Gool Gulab Garh in Ramban district, today. The people were protesting against the assault by the personnel of Border Security Force and Central Reserve Police Force on a mosque and desecration of Holy Quran during Teraveeh prayers in the area, last evening. The killings triggered massive protest demonstrations in Qazigund and Banihal blocking the Srinagar-Jammu highway for all types of traffic. Several people were injured when police resorted to brute force on protesters at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, today. In Ramban town, agitating protesters ransacked the Deputy Commissioner office and set on blaze a government vehicle in the town during a protest demonstration against the killings. A three-day protest strike will be observed from tomorrow against the Ramban killings. Call for the strike has been given by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The police arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik along with several activists while he was leading a protest in Lal Chowk. The authorities also arrested senior APHC leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah at Auntipora while proceeding towards Tral. The families of Sheikh Imran and Sheikh Farhat held a protest demonstration in Srinagar against the award of life sentence to the youth by a Kolkata court in a fake case. APHC leaders, Zafar Akbar Butt also attended the protest. A protest demonstration was held by family, relatives and neighbours of Parvez Ahmed in Srinagar. They said that Parvez was killed in custody by the Indian police in Mumbai. The organization of relatives of disappeared persons, Forum for Justice held a protest sit-in at the Press Colony in Srinagar for safe recovery of their near and dear ones. The JKLF-R Chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar in a statement commenting on the confession made by a former Indian Home Ministry officer that the Indian government itself orchestrated the Parliament and Mumbai attacks said that New Delhi had its started lifting cover from its dirty work. Meanwhile occupied Kashmir’s top cardiologist Dr Sheikh Jalal-ud-din was critically injured by unknown gunman outside his residence in Pampore, while his personnel security guards died in the firing.-
