Hushahu. Shaman of the Yawanawa people. (words to video) We are privileged to enter the world of the Yawanawa People… Through the eyes and words of their Shaman, Hushahu. youtube/watch?v=yTM8MyJXbnE&feature=share Before contact happened, we were not afraid of disease, of bad energies. Because Tatá tells us they had never seen a plane pass, the noise When they saw it, many of them ran Yelling: “What is that?” Now, we feel, each one that passes, The smoke from the oil burnt, You know, all of it falls. Rain doesn’t fall healthy, We cannot be in the rain, We can’t shower in it, Rolling, feeling it. Because it brings something Damaging for health. So, we don’t feel safe to sit On the ground, like I am sitting here, Because it is being polluted. We are surrounded by all kinds Of dangers, not just illnesses. And when we sit to make a Ceremony, We seek force. These pieces of land, of nature, Where we are living, are now so small. They have been destroyed. They have life. They bring health, love, they are pure. We seek them to gather strength, so we can cast up, and clear those black clouds of illness, of suffering. For every child, for every woman, For everyone living here on Earth. Spirituality is like something magical. You cast it here, and it disseminates. With the blow, the words, minds clear themselves. Then, they become very strong. We need to find people like that. So we can gather strong energies. Because it is not the world That is destroying itself, but people. It is thoughts, it is hands that work that are destroying all the best we have. All our good… Our history says that the Earth talked. Forests talked. Flowers talked. Animals talked. Today, they don’t talk. But they have a spirit. So they are destroyed in cruel ways. Trees are logged. They are destroyed with fire. And from them comes revolt. They are logged and burned, And smoke comes out of them. They cry, they suffer because they are destroyed. And we feel that. If we logged one of these trees, it is for medicine. So we’d lose it. We are losing them. We are gathering strength for that to stop, for it to get into people’s hearts, that they must change. To open, for that energy to spread all around the World, for this world to transform into A better world. A paradise of Peace and love. Because people who do that, they don’t have love, they don’t have humility. And that’s why the world today Is full of violence and danger wherever we go, we see that, we feel it. Because there is no love. There is no peace in the heart. We need to spread that love, that peace, that is so precious, so big, that it comes like the stars in the sky. Like the sun that shines every morning on the Earth, illuminating all places. My People, my family, my village, we need a lot of strength. We think a lot about opening up a place inside the forest to walk around, to teach about the medicinal plants, to heal people. My ancestors, they always were strong, Courageous men, very strong shamans. My grandfather was a very strong shaman. Why was I born? I didn’t come here to Earth to have children and go back. I have to accomplish a mission, because I am A mother. I need to protect my children. I need to leave a message for them. So, what should I do? An idea came. There was a very big taboo in the Yawanawa culture. Now there’s not anymore, because I broke it down. Very, very, very big. Yawanawa men, they are… I think they were very prejudiced men. Women couldn’t be in the Uni Circles, in the Ceremonies, not even to get close to them. That meant a discrimination for us women, for living in such a reserved way. My parents never accepted it because it was a tradition. It is a tradition from the time previous to my father, so it couldn’t be done. And when I got into that diet, where I did this, the thing that encouraged me the most was seeing my children grow, because we are not isolated anymore, like our ancestors used to be. Today we can’t. we don’t live like that anymore. We have contact. We go and do some work in the city, and we come back, kids study, they are learning. My biggest concern was that my kids would learn Our history, our culture, to live it. Our Spiritual study has no ending. It keeps growing through the days, the years, and we almost Become a magical person.
