Hutchins strengthens defence for Giants Jeff Hutchins, Dundee Stars Head Coach, confirmed last night that American defenseman Ryan Grimshaw has signed for the Stars for the remainder of the 2014/15 Elite League season. Grimshaw, who is from Rochester, New York, played for the South Carolina Stingrays last season scoring 10 points (1+9) from 51 games. He ended the previous season with the Stingrays when he signed for the play-offs with the ECHL side but spent the bulk of his first pro year with the Trenton Titans, also in the ECHL, while playing up with their AHL affiliate the Toronto Marlies. Grimshaw is a Harvard University graduate who started his pro career at the end of the 2011/12 season when he was signed by the Titans. He played 3 games with them before being loaned to the Rochester Americans where he played 3 regular season games and 3 in the AHL Playoffs. Jeff said last night, Ryan comes highly recommended as a solid two way d-man. We need some help at the back as we have been pretty thin to start the season. The guys back there have been doing a good job however I thought it was time to steady the ship. Guys are making mistakes because they are tired. I am looking for Ryan to be a leader back there and to make simple and smart decisions and eat up some minutes. I am looking forward to seeing him in action this weekend. Ryan will fly into Belfast tomorrow where he will join the rest of the team for the game against the Giants. The 24 year old will wear number five for the Stars.
