Hybridization: And the Degradation of Species Over the years, - TopicsExpress

Hybridization: And the Degradation of Species Over the years, it never ceases to amaze me when someone post pictures, topics, and what have you; regarding the hybridization of birds. Macaws, conures, you name it.. Why do people feel that it is acceptable to place two birds of different species together in order to produce babies? Im sorry. Its not cute.. Its irresponsible.. Many of us understand that we can no longer import birds into this country. (Although some have been accepted on the list for importation, it takes a great deal of effort to be approved.) Therefore, we as breeders have the responsibility of maintaining the bloodlines and lineage of birds in aviculture for generations to come. By hybridizing, we are systematically altering the genetic lineage of these birds and can produce congenital issues and or infertility. Make no mistake.. Once these bloodlines are broken, there is no turning back. So to those of you producing Shamrock Macaws or Sunday Conures, birds are beautiful just as God intended. No one has the right to purposely destroy what He has created.
