Hydrocephalus affects everyone, old and young. It causes motor function loss, muscle development loss, speech loss, memory loss, blindness even death. James had a head growing bigger everyday. We saw him going from bright and curious to not moving, not making noise. He couldnt roll over, couldnt hold his head up, couldnt sit up, could barely keep food in, he was losing all sight completly. My husband and I knew something was wrong, we saw our only son deteriorating in front of us. We saw doctor after doctor all telling us he was okay. Finally a radiologist looked deeper and found brain fluid build up in his frontal lobe. Rare, and we caught it. After his surgery we saw improvement almost immediately. He could see us and he smiled. It is terrifying to be a parent, know your child is sick, and have to fight to get him treatment. James still sees a thearpist often, he couldnt crawl to just before he turned one and at 16 months he is finally taking steps. I didnt think about a diease like this till it hit my family.
