Hyperloop: the genius idea of Elon Musk (you might recognize his name as being the founder of SpaceX and co founder of Tesla motors) to be able to transport people from one city to the next in as little time as possible. The idea of the hyperloop is to have capsules move through steel tubes at speed of 800+ MPH. To give you an idea of how fast that is, it could take a man from NY to La in 30-45 minutes non stop. It would follow A main route (theoretically LA- Amarillo- Chicago- New York) and with smaller routes connecting smaller cities, such as Dallas and Houston for instance, together and to main route stations. The hyperloop would also be energy efficient and environmentally friendly, as it would run pretty much completely on solar power. Now of course, a lot of people say "well, this sounds like a fortune to build." There has been previous talk of building high speed trains between New York and LA before, and the most recent proposal would have cost around $70 billion. Musk estimates that this could cost less than 1/10th of that, at $6 billion. And while there are still alot of issues to solve and hurdles to jump, this is a major leap into the future of high speed transportation.
