Hyrum asked what are the steps of starting an aquarium. They are very simple. I will spend a couple of days putting this information online. Step ONE: choose what type of fish you want to raise and learn about what their wants and needs are. Decide if you want live plants are are you going to uses plastic ones. Does the breed of fish which you want to purchase have PH concerns (alkaline 7.6 PH or acidic 6.0 PH). Some of the red colored plants only do well in waters below 6.8 PH. When you introduce live plants to your aquarium you also introduce snails. Almost all snails destroy plants. Are you going to control snails with some type of Loach (their are water temperature concerns) or do it manually. You need to know if the temperament of the fish you have chosen are compatible. To be simple--which might already be too late--you need a plan. You can change your plan as you go, but you need to know if you have succeeded in accomplishing what you want to do.
