Hysterical Lady Outside of my house in the street, A womans quavering voice Breaks my concentration. She sounds terrified, hysterical, And perhaps in mortal danger. So, startled, I brace myself to help, But then recall this frequent spook And remember to whom The high-pitched voice belongs - A kind neighbor up the way Who passes on her way to market Accompanied by friends who listen Unfazed, unstartled and unknowing Of the anxious gringo poised inside His house ready to almost hilariously rescue A passing soul he thought hysterical.
