I’m currently in a hearing of the Senate Select Committee on the Abbott Government’s Commission of Audit. The Abbott Government’s Commission of Audit is limited through its terms of reference to only considering the expenditure side of the Federal budget, a wilfully myopic approach by the Abbott Government for reasons of political expediency, which irresponsibly ignores Australia’s future revenue needs and reform options. Today the Senate Select Committee will be examining the whole scope of Australia’s future revenue and expenditure needs and reform options, with evidence from bodies such as Per Capita, the McKell Institute and the Federal Treasury.
