"I’m not about to stand up on a soap box and condemn every person who calls themselves a Tea Party Patriot a racist. I’m just saying that maybe now is the best time possible for them to start policing their own. Throughout time there have been those on both ideological extreme fringes that have resorted to violence and intimidation in a desperate attempt to hijack control of the dialog on a particular subject. These people can’t be reasoned with, and they don’t belong in any rational political discussion or party. The Tea Party would do well to distance themselves from the truly unstable and racist among them. The problem is — they can’t."
