I-710 Freeway Closures 6/28-7/2 LOS ANGELES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will implement the following closures for the week beginning Friday, June 28 through Tuesday, July 2 in relation to a $120 million pavement replacement project on the Long Beach Freeway (I-710) from the Los Angeles River Bridge to the San Bernardino Freeway (I-10): •A full closure of the southbound I-710 connector to southbound I-5 will take place over the weekend of June 29 to July 1 beginning on Saturday, June 29 at 6 p.m. through Monday, July 1 at 6 a.m. The northbound I-5 connector to northbound I-710 will be closed from 8 p.m. Saturday, June 29 through 6 a.m. Monday, July 1. Northbound and Southbound Santa Ana Freeway (I-5)--Weeknights •Up to two lanes between Triggs Street and Olympic Boulevard – 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. (full closures MAY occur intermittently between midnight and 5 a.m.); •Southbound I-5 to southbound I-710 connector – 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.; •Northbound I-5 to northbound I-710 connector – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Northbound I-710 (Weeknights) •Up to three lanes between I-10 and I-5 northbound – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.; •Up to two lanes between Slauson Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard – 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.; •Third Street on- and off-ramps – 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.; •Cesar Chavez off-ramp – 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.; •Atlantic Boulevard off-ramp – 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.; •Eastbound and westbound SR-60 connector to northbound I-710 – 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Southbound I-710 (Weeknights) •Up to three lanes between I-10 and I-5 – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.; •Up to two lanes between Slauson Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard – 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.; •Third Street on- and off-ramps – 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. •Olympic Boulevard/Whittier Boulevard off-ramp – 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.; •Atlantic Boulevard on-ramp – 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.; •Eastbound and westbound SR-60 connector to southbound I-710 – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.; •Southbound I-710 to southbound I-5 connector – 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Street Closures (Weeknights) •Atlantic Boulevard from Bandini Boulevard to District Boulevard, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.; •Telegraph Road from Arizona Avenue to Eastern Avenue, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The project is installing precast concrete panels as well as concrete slabs in various traffic lanes and locations upgrade the median barrier and construct maintenance pullouts along the route to enhance safety for maintenance crews. Shimmick Construction is the contractor on the project, which will complete in late 2015. Work also will include widening shoulders and installing fiber optic lines for various traffic management technologies. #
