I ALWAYS post this and if you have read it before then please just bare with me. With every piece of fiction that an author produces, there is some fact that finds its way into the authors work. It may be a very small fact or it could take up the majority of the work but regardless, its there. The Friend Zone Series is purely fictional, except the ending of book one. The ending is from a story that I had written a long time ago. The Friend Zone and More Than Friends was written with a heavy heart. When I was 17, I had a very close friend who 20, and was in an abusive relationship. I tried over, and over again to talk to her. To see that being his punching bag wasnt love. One day I put a story on paper and the next time I saw her, I asked her to read my English Assignment. I played it off as if I wanted her opinion. I asked her what she thought of it and she was appalled at the female’s behavior. She couldn’t believe how she was so easily manipulated into doing things she wouldn’t normally do, and how the man mistreated the woman. So, I asked her, “How is that different from your situation?” When she realized what I was doing, she got really pissed. She didn’t talk to me for a month. Out of the blue one day, she called me, insisting that we go to lunch. I can still remember the rage boiling inside of me when I saw her black eye and busted lip. Her eyes were filled with shame and regret, the sadness in them tore my heart out. I sat down with her, and we talked about what had happened and what her options were. She left him, but several weeks later went back. Two weeks later, they had another fight, but this one took her from me. A beautiful person was lost in an act of violence and I wrote this story for her. The Friend Zone is about a young woman, who survived the worst and is trying to move past a series of tragic events in her life. Its about a man whos loved a girl from a distance, since he was a kid. Hes tired of hiding in the shadows and determined to make her whole again. Through The Friend Zone series, Im determined to give my friend the happily ever after she deserved.
