I AM THIRD...God , Family, Me...So many of my closest friends have asked how I could let Alexa go live in Lubbock after almost 17 years with me. Honestly, it has been the hardest thing I have ever done but when I prayed about it and listened to God and put Him and my child first, it was the only decision to be made- at the time I had no idea what would happen but many of you have seen my posts on trusting God and at times it is easier said than done. The true blessing comes when you actually have to live up to each word ou have ever said. Their verse this year was Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. I cant explain how true this verse is. Despite a season ending injury in sports with a torn ACL for Alexa Nelson, being a part of this team saved her from experiencing what other young people might when their identity is tied to something else and their friendships are shallow. For me, that, along with the coaches and other parents has been the greatest gift I have know. When you hear what Alexa has to say on the video, I think all who asked how I could let her live in Lubbock while Liam and I stay in Plano will understand...it was never about me, or how it looked on the outside, it was about what I felt God wanted me to do and was best for her at the time, Even if it was tearing my heart to shreds. I can assure you, Matthew 6:33 is so true. Every day I find a new blessing that makes me realize His omnipotent power if we are willing to trust in Him. I have said a hundred times on Facebook how much I love these girls and coaches. I could say it a thousand times more and it wouldnt be enough. This team was so special. Yes, they won the State Championships but they all inherited the Kingdom of God First.
