I AM WHAT I WEAR My poem will be a uniquely crafted garment. - TopicsExpress

I AM WHAT I WEAR My poem will be a uniquely crafted garment. Will I need a decorative or functional piece? Do I wish to create an article of delicate, pristine perfection, or one of rugged, practical substance? I will choose its fabric and features to best serve its intended use. Do I wish to shock, comfort, soothe, invite, arouse, or threaten? The concepts of my poem/garment will be the raw materials of life experience. I will feed them into my internal loom for processing, weaving them into finely textured bolts of fabric. With seams of verse paragraphs, I will join stanzas of cloth panels into a coordinated whole. For interest and utility, I’ll add stylistic details and twists: collars, cuffs, buttons, pockets, pleats and zippers. Carefully planned and crafted, my poem/garment will gradually take shape. It will have a unique personality. It will represent who I am: my values, themes, ideas, and emotions. Will I wear it, discard it, or share it? --Will Walsh, 2013
