I Am A Sinulog Dancer pays recognition to contingents whose concept and storyline are worthy of praise. Our TOP 10 Best in Original Concept and Storyline: 1. Tribu Katbalaugan of Catbalogan City, Samar -The real beasts are us humans- we are the chiefest predator. Geckos eat the mosquitos... Humans hunted the Geckos... The Gecko population decreased and the mosquito population increased. Then the start of mosquito plaguing the people. 2. Tribu Sinanduloy of Tangub City, Misamis Occidental - From the legendary folkloric myth popular among Philippine rurals, Lamat or Conjuration. The dance commenced in a fiesta scene wherein one man got drunk, woke up in a dark forest, and enchanted by mystic creatures. The man disappeared in the wild. His folks looked for him and asked help from quack doctors, but only to no avail. The quacks had died with the man still missing. Then followed, Sangpit Senyor!. 3. Tribu Himag-ulaw of Placer, Masbate - Another wild, remarkable, and original concept from Mr. Barry Luche, The Chronicles of Chinese Pagoda. 4. Kulturang Placereño of Masbate City - Their concept and storyline made their presentation grander. It was a story of farmers working for the nobles (hacienderos). The scene and production would definitely bring you back to the Spanish era. 4. Don Sergio Osmeña Sr. MNHS - Although the concept wont sell easy on the Grand Parade, the group still deserves a praise for thinking out-of-the-box and for taking risks. The concept was so fresh and brilliant. (We love groups who take risks.) 5. Carcar City Division - Featuring how hog raisers toiled for their pigs to earn a living and raise not just their family, but one happy community. 6. Tuburan National High School - Featuring a community which relied in the Bamboo industry. The Bamboos provided not only livelihood to the folks, but also in building a prosperous community. 7. Abellana National School - This group introduced another original concept in SB: the Tinikling dance. Not only did they show the dance, but they also showed how the dance was born. 8. City of Bogo Division - The story of silkworms. (Very original!) 9. Tribu Mabolukon of Mabolo Elementary School - The story of a couple wherein the pregnant woman requested green mangoes to her husband. The trees bearing the green mangoes, however, were guarded by birds. The birds shooed the couple away, but the pregnant woman got tripped. 10. Lumad Basakanon - Their entry clearly depicted the Pre-Hispanic Cebu. The dance commenced with hunters who eyed at the lone Visayan deer(which were ones abundant in the Central Mountains of Cebu particularly Balamban). They then connected the story to the start of Holy Child Jesus veneration in the Philippines. This Top 10 list is also the Top 10 for Best in Concept Delivery.
