I Believe (Part 3 of 24) Reference: Luke 3 biblegateway/passage/?search=Luke%203 The word of God came to John while he was in the wilderness. So he went into all the country around the Jordan to preach the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. He was calling crowds to repent. Tax collectors asked him what they should do, and he told them not to collect more than what they were required to. Some soldiers asked him, and he told them not to extort money, not to make false accusation, and to be content with their pay. The crowds were wondering whether he was the messiah; but he told them that he was baptising them with water, but the one who was more powerful would come and would be baptising them with the holy spirit and fire. Then he exhorted the people with many other words. Then Jesus came to be baptised by John also. While Jesus was praying, the heaven was opened, and the holy spirit descended on him in a bodily form like a dove, and then a voice came from heaven: “You are my son, whom I love. With you I am well pleased.” This happened when Jesus was about thirty years old. He was thought to be the son of Joseph. Joseph was a descendant of David. David was a descendant of Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham. Abraham was a descendant of Noah. Noah was a descendant of Adam the son of God.
