I CAN’T GO HOME AGAIN A loved one had asked why I had not - TopicsExpress

I CAN’T GO HOME AGAIN A loved one had asked why I had not stayed, For my visits grow shorter and shorter they will. For the place where little girls and boys played, Is now silent and it’s hallways are cold and still. The music that filled the humble little place, Was played by heartstrings of it’s dwellers. Death and life moved them to another space, Only pictures live now in it’s closets and cellar. Where does one go when they need to embrace, The warmth of family years now gone forever? Perhaps it’s best not to go back to the place. Now broken down with despair beyond measure. Generations of rabbits now only find gloom, In a barren yard that is tree-free and scarred. Mourning it’s family now gone that bloomed, Like the secret garden within their own yard. Where are the children who played there, Under missing oaks that filtered the sky? The ghost that was me needs to be free, Of the house that was home and has died. Where does one go to find the child who calls, When the place where they lived is now vacant? And the laughter that calls from it’s somber walls, Replaced now with silence that’s complacent. What I miss so much is no longer to be seen, For the house that was home is now just a dream. Where does one go to help their heart mend ? I’ll look in my heart because I can’t go home again. Authors notes: Childhood homes may crumble, loved ones may be gone, But only when we see the unseen future with eyes of faith can we see the beauty that lies ahead with God. Joel 2:25- And I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. Isaiah 61:3- To appoint to them that mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. © Copyright 2009 InkWellspring66 (UN: songofsolomon at Writing.Com).
