I COULD BE WRONG BUT I DONT THINK SO. I have no idea what 1000 members of the National Guard is going to be doing to secure the border. THEY HAVE NO ARREST AUTHORITY BECAUSE THEY ARE CONSIDERED MILITARY. The ONLY military members who have arrest authority is the U. S. Coast Guard from pay grade E-4 and above. That is one reason they were never put under the Department of the Navy so they could be considered federal law enforcement officers WITH arrest authority. So what is the National Guard specifically going to do on the border? It appears that they will be there primarily for show and not much more. Again, I could be wrong but I dont think so.
