I, Cloud, occasionally feel it is My Duty as a feline to inform the non-feline world of information that may help them lead more contented, cat-like lives. Thus: “According to the Cancer Nutrition Centers of America, heart attack patients who own a pet are more likely to survive longer than those who do not have a furry friend.” (Source: animalrescuesite.org) (You probably could tell that without a survey.) “Pet owners also make up to 20 percent fewer doctors’ visits than non-pet owners.” (As Paula Poundstone repeatedly asks on “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me”: Who comes up with these percentages?!?) “You may want to consider getting a pet to call your own if you want to lower your cholesterol levels and improve your overall psychological well-being.” (Well, duh ! You, o human Facebook friends, definitely knew that!) “The benefits are also great for children. When theyre exposed to pets during their first year of life, kids have a lesser chance of developing asthma and allergies.” (Asthma and allergies aside, what about AFFECTION?) It appears that I, Cloud, and the Cancer Nutrition Centers of America (who are they?) are in agreement, although I, Cloud, with the experience of my nine lives clearly have the advantage. I do not digress. Thank you.
