```I-Day celebrated in Ladakh with Chinese troops```` New Delhi, Aug 15 A ceremonial meeting of border security personnel was held between India and China in eastern Ladakh Friday to mark 68th Independence Day of India, an official statement said. The delegations comprised representatives of the Indian Army and Into-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on the Indian side and the Peoples Liberation Army on the Chinese side. The celebrations opened with both Indian and Chinese delegations saluting the Indian national flag. The ceremony which lasted for approximately four hours included cultural and entertainment shows and sports events. The event was attended by ladies from both sides which symbolises growing peace, confidence and desire of establishing tranquility along the borders, an official statement said. Participation of Chinese delegation in Indias Independence Day celebrations is a gesture which will further foster the friendly relations between India and China and build up mutual trust and confidence, it said. The statement added both sides reiterated their commitment to uphold the protocols and agreements signed between the two countries and acknowledged that the peace and tranquillity which prevails along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) should be further strengthened and stabilised. A similar ceremony was held on the Chinese side on the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) Day, Aug 1.
