I Dreamed I Saw Him I dreamed I saw him at the synagogue— At - TopicsExpress

I Dreamed I Saw Him I dreamed I saw him at the synagogue— At a large gathering of strangers and friends, A confused crush of faces, The living and the dead commingled In the Grand Foyer under the starry chandelier. I called his name, loudly. Because I knew he would turn and reach out for me. Because I could, because he was there, The top of his hair fizzing yellow-gold; I thought To make a spectacle of our love, So everyone would see it shine, and made my way dancing Through a dozen people to arrive at the safe terminus of his arms. He was there, and well. I saw him. And then I woke To another hard morning, with just a glimmer of August sun burning a corner of the room alive, The muscle-memory of him, the circle of us. And I thought, I spend half of my life asleep, I’ll settle for this. Take whatever light you get.
