I.E.I Students Chapter celebrates “World Standards Day” on 14th October, 2014. With the motive of working together to strengthen and advance voluntary and consensus-based international standards, The Students’ Chapter of I.E. (India), Chitkara University celebrates the World Standards Day on 14th October, 2014. The theme of the day is “Standards Level the Playing Field”. Have you ever thought of living a life without standards? “Standard” word here does not refer to the luxury, standardisation is the process of developing and implementing technical standards. Standardization can help to maximize compatibility, interoperability, safety, repeat ability, or quality. It can also facilitate commoditization of formerly custom processes. Had not there been any of standard units like kilogram, newton, ampere etc., how miserable our lives would have been then right? The day honours the efforts of the thousands of experts who develop voluntary standards within standards development organizations for the welfare of human society.With standards making our life easy and convenient, the students of Chitkara University will bring about standardisation into limelight by organizing events -“POWERPOINT KARAOKE” in which students will elaborate the theme in a presentable way and “FOSTER UR POSTER”, which would be a poster making event. Thus, letting the budding engineers to explore their talent via expressing their views on standardisation.
